Job Description
Job Overview The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in maintaining the hotel property to ensure the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of guests and team members. This position assists with maintaining the building, guest rooms, equipment, utilities, pool areas, parking lots, and other hotel property while helping ensure all systems operate efficiently and safely. The Assistant Chief Engineer should be able to complete repairs independently, respond promptly to maintenance needs, and assist with preventative maintenance, vendor coordination, and departmental organization. Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Complete minor repairs including plumbing, lighting, painting, drywall, furniture, kitchen, and laundry equipment repairs Perform preventative maintenance and maintain accurate maintenance logs Monitor and repair hotel systems including HVAC, lighting, doors, televisions, plumbing, and electrical systems Respond to guest maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner Assist with refurbishing furniture and fixtures in guest rooms and public areas Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Assist the Chief Engineer with vendor coordination, inventory, and maintenance scheduling Follow all hotel safety procedures and assist with emergency maintenance needs as required Qualifications and Requirements Minimum of 1 year of building maintenance or repair experience preferred High school diploma or vocational training preferred Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Excel required Certified Pool Operator (CPO) license preferred if applicable PM Availability Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. regularly and up to 300 lbs. occasionally Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and crawling Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, preventative maintenance, and hand tools Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays Must have access to a personal phone and internet for emergency and work-related communication
