Assistant Chief Engineer Job ID 134934 Job Type Contract Industry Manufacturing Location Memphis, Tennessee, United States Talascend is currently seeking a Assistant Chief Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Memphis, Tennessee. Overview The building maintenance engineer will be responsible for supervising, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across various systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building automation. The role requires a multi-skilled individual capable of performing a wide range of technical tasks to ensure the optimal functioning of building systems and tenant satisfaction. Responsibilities Follow safety policies and procedures, maintaining attention to detail on job sites. Perform ongoing preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other systems and components. Utilize work order management systems to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks. Support operations and engineering teams to meet service levels and key performance indicators. Lead and share knowledge with team members to grow their technical skills in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related areas. Analyze system operations, diagnose malfunctions, and implement corrective actions. Monitor BAS systems, respond to alarms, and diagnose issues. Inspect, repair, and maintain HVAC equipment including refrigeration systems, chillers, and cooling towers. Inspect, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures, water heaters, piping, and sump pumps. Inspect, repair, and maintain electrical components such as lamps, ballasts, fixtures, and motors. Inspect damaged surfaces and perform repairs such as painting and pressure washing. Perform facility rounds, proactive inspections, and report conditions impacting tenant occupancy and operations. Provide excellent customer service to tenants and agencies, minimizing disruptions. Identify safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them. Support after-hours building-related activities as required. Maintain records of building rounds, refrigerant logs, safety data sheets, and compliance with OSHA and safety policies. Work independently, teach team members, and assist with daily assignments. Support a culture of in-house maintenance to reduce reliance on outside vendors. Maintain a clean and safe work environment and ensure tools, supplies, and PPE are available. Work with the chief engineer to identify and implement cost savings. Complete all required safety training on schedule. Qualifications High school diploma or GED, technical training, or degree. Minimum of four (4) years of experience in building engineering, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance. Valid Tennessee driver's license. Universal
EPA / CFC
license. Preferred Qualifications Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, or related crafts.
