Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and skilled Commercial Plumbing Detailer and Designer to join our client's team.
In this role, you will be responsible for detailing and designing plumbing systems for commercial buildings, ensuring all work complies with local building codes and safety standards. Your expertise will help ensure water systems are designed to function efficiently, support remodeling projects, and provide exceptional service to our clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse construction projects, utilize a variety of design tools and software, and contribute to high-quality plumbing solutions across commercial projects. Responsibilities Detail and design plumbing systems for commercial settings, including water supply lines, drainage systems, and fixtures. Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to accurately produce plumbing layouts and system designs. Use CAD/BIM software, drafting tools, and plumbing reference materials to complete detailed drawings and layouts efficiently. Review drain and drainage layouts using specialized software to ensure optimal flow and prevent design conflicts. Perform plumbing design reviews and revisions while adhering to safety protocols and local building codes. Collaborate with construction teams on remodeling projects, drawing coordination, and site preparation activities. Travel to job sites as needed to verify field conditions and gather measurements for accurate drawings. Requirements Proven construction experience with a focus on plumbing detailing and design in commercial environments. Knowledge of construction plumbing techniques including pipe threading, welding, and assembly. Experience with residential plumbing as well as commercial plumbing systems is preferred. Proficient in interpreting and producing technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics accurately. Skilled in using CAD/BIM software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) for plumbing layout and design. Experience with Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) workflows and BIM coordination software (e.g., Navisworks) is preferred. Familiarity with local building codes and regulations related to plumbing installation and design. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members. Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and troubleshooting plumbing design issues. Handyman experience or remodeling background is a plus for versatile project support.
