Job Description
Chief Engineer — Delta Hotels by Marriott, Milwaukee Scarlett Hotel Group | Full-Time | On-Site | Milwaukee, WI $55,000 per year This Building Needs a Leader. Not Just a Fixer. Any engineer can chase work orders. We need someone who walks the property, sees the deferred maintenance nobody logged, and fixes it before it becomes a guest complaint — or a bigger bill. Someone who looks at an aging system and says "here's the plan" instead of waiting to be told there's a problem. Delta Hotels by Marriott Milwaukee is hiring a Chief Engineer to lead our engineering department through a real rebuilding period. This isn't a maintain-the-status-quo role. Ownership is investing in this property, and we need an engineering leader who takes initiative, builds a real preventive maintenance program, and takes ownership of the building like it's personal — because at this property, right now, it kind of is. What You'll Own Lead the department. Hire, train, schedule, and develop your engineering team — you set the standard and hold people to it Build the preventive maintenance program. Don't just respond to work orders — get ahead of them. Rooms, guest corridors, mechanical rooms, roof, and building envelope all run on your schedule, not on emergencies Own the big systems. HVAC, boilers, chillers, electrical, plumbing, pool, life safety/fire systems, and the building automation system — you know how they work and you know when something's about to fail Drive the rebuild. Assess deferred maintenance across the property, prioritize the list, and bring ownership a real capital and repair plan — with the initiative to act on the small stuff yourself Keep everyone safe. Full compliance with OSHA, fire/life safety codes, and all local and state regulations — no shortcuts, ever Manage the budget. Track engineering spend, vendor contracts, and parts inventory like it's your own money Respond when it matters. Be the calm, capable presence guests and staff can count on during a system failure, a storm, or an after-hours emergency Who Thrives Here You take initiative. You don't wait for a work order to tell you something's wrong — you find it first You lead, not just labor. Prior supervisory or Chief/Assistant Chief Engineer experience in a hotel, multifamily, or commercial facility strongly preferred 3+ years of hands-on experience across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems You can read a building the way a mechanic reads an engine — quickly, and correctly Comfortable managing a punch list, a vendor, and a budget in the same afternoon Calm under pressure and available for after-hours emergencies when the building needs you Certifications We're Looking For City of Milwaukee Stationary Engineer Permit to Operate (or ability to obtain one via a current ASOPE or NIULPE boiler operator license) — required for our boiler plant EPA Section 608 Certification (refrigerant handling) — required Certified Pool/Spa Operator (CPO) — required or willing to obtain within 90 days OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification preferred Certified Plant Engineer (CPE) or Certified Maintenance Professional (CMP) — a strong plus, not required Backflow prevention certification a plus Valid driver's license Don't check every box? Apply anyway if you've got the leadership instinct and the hands-on skill — we'll support the right person in closing certification gaps. The Details $55,000 per year Medical, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Marriott hotel discounts worldwide Real advancement: Scarlett Hotel Group promotes from within across a growing multi-brand portfolio, and our Scarlett University leadership program is built to take engineering leaders further Why Scarlett Hotel Group We're a multi-brand portfolio across Marriott, Hilton, and IHG flags, and we back the people who run our buildings. This Chief Engineer role reports directly into property leadership with real support behind it — this is a rebuild we're funding, not a department we're leaving to fend for itself. Ready? . Tell us about a time you fixed something before anyone else even knew it was broken — that story is exactly what we're hiring for.
