Maintenance Engineer
Job Description
The Maintenance Engineer's primary role is to implement activities related to plant maintenance and building operations in order to increase operational efficiency through timely planning, scheduling and execution of planned preventative maintenance and project activities. Responsible for preventive maintenance and reliability of production equipment with strong focus on powder paint production line. This role leads preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives, supports production operations, drives downtime reduction projects, and ensures compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Paint Line And Production Equipment Reliability & Maintenance Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs for paint line systems Ensure maximum uptime and reliability of paint application, pretreatment, curing, and material handling equipment Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and controls-related issues Understanding of PLC ladder logic and ability to troubleshoot and work with maintenance staff to resolve issues as they arise Analyze equipment failures and implement corrective actions to eliminate recurring problems Support equipment startups, shutdowns, modifications, and commissioning activities Maintain equipment documentation, PM schedules, spare parts lists, and maintenance records Works with maintenance supervisor to plans and delegates assignments to the maintenance department and contractors including preventative maintenance of equipment and buildings Coordinate appropriate resource planning, including cost, labor, materials and equipment, and scheduling including required labor and/or subcontractors, to support maintenance project Assist with long range planning and project development activities Assist with Contractor negotiation and coordinate contractor work on-site
Administrative Functions:
Develop, implement and maintain preventative maintenance systems and processes Monitor and assess preventative maintenance. Develop and implement proper PM for building and production equipment Responsible for ordering parts and materials as required Coordinate and prioritize reactive maintenance Assist managers and supervisors with Maintenance staffing requirements
Continuous Improvement:
Lead reliability improvement projects focused on reducing downtime and increasing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies to improve maintenance processes. Conduct root cause analysis using tools such as: 5 Why Fishbone Diagram Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) Support implementation of predictive maintenance technologies and asset management systems
Reporting Requirements:
Maintain documentation for labor and material expenses by asset number Responsible for approving contractor invoices and allocating to appropriate GL Account and cost center
Required Skills:
Additional years of experience or education may be substituted for each other as determined by Human Resources. A Bachelor's in Manufacturing Engineering or related field. A minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance engineering. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven track record of developing and implementing process improvements.
