Hourly/Non-Exempt Reports to: Engineering Manager About the Role The Weekend Engineering Technician provides crucial, hands-on mechanical and hardware support to keep our manufacturing operations running continuously over the weekend. Working a compressed 4-day schedule, you will partner directly with the Weekend Engineers to execute preventative maintenance, perform mechanical repairs, and respond immediately to active line calls.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide rapid, hands-on mechanical troubleshooting for active production lines during the weekend shifts. Execute weekend preventative maintenance (PMs) and assist with heavy machine setups. Assist the Engineering team with equipment teardowns, mechanical repairs, tooling adjustments, and parts replacement. Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, or other material handling equipment as needed to support engineering projects. Monitor equipment performance and report abnormalities to the shift Engineer. Ensure all work complies with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and general external best practices.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment and mechanical assemblies. Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand/power tools and basic diagnostics. Demonstrable knowledge of safe workmanship in an industrial setting. Ability to work collaboratively with production and maintenance teams under high-pressure downtime scenarios. Experience operating material handling equipment (forklifts, lifts) is highly preferred.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma required; 2-year technical degree or equivalent hands-on experience in industrial maintenance/engineering support strongly preferred. At least 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Extensive periods of working on feet and using tools. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently. Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required for safety.
