Job Description

This is an internship position open exclusively to current college students. This role requires in-person attendance.
ABOUT ESQUARED
eSquared Communication Consulting is an enterprise mobility and SaaS deployment partner, helping businesses across transportation, construction, manufacturing, warehouse, retail, and healthcare deploy and manage the technology their teams rely on every day. We solve real operational problems for our customers, and we build the same problem-solving mindset into how we run our own business.
THE ROLE
We're looking for an AI and Operations Intern to support a live AI automation project inside e
Squared:
an initiative that combines hardware, computer vision, and process automation to dramatically speed up how we prepare devices (tablets) for customers at scale. This is real-time, hands on work teaming up with software developers and a project lead — this is not a simulated project. You'll be responsible for testing it, running it, documenting it, and then iterating on it. You'll be involved with helping the physical setup scale from a bench prototype to a full production line. This role blends hands-on hardware work, structured quality testing, and technical writing. It is built for someone who likes to learn by doing, is comfortable troubleshooting physical setups, and can turn what they find into clear written feedback our internal team can act on.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Run structured daily test sessions on the automation system and document what worked, what broke, and under what conditions Write clear, actionable bug reports and feature requests, and work directly with the development team to help prioritize and validate fixes Assemble, adjust, and troubleshoot the physical hardware stations that make the automation work — mounts, cameras, cabling, positioning Support device provisioning and basic setup tasks under developer guidance Maintain SOPs, testing logs, and technical documentation so project knowledge is clearly documented, and doesn't live only in chat threads Provide feedback on physical layout and fixture design as the setup scales to handle more devices at once
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree — open to a range of majors (engineering, IT, business operations, AI, or similar); we care more about aptitude than major Reliable attendance and on-site availability in Tempe, AZ HQ for hands-on testing and software/hardware work Comfortable working hands-on with hardware and electronics — cables, cameras, and small components don't intimidate you Strong attention to detail and clear, structured written communication A tester's mindset — you look for what breaks, and you can reproduce it, not just report it Comfortable following basic command-line instructions from a developer (no coding background required) Genuine interest in AI forward technology
NICE TO HAVE
Exposure to camera/vision systems, IoT, embedded hardware, or CAD/3D printing Prior QA, UAT, or technical documentation experience Robotics mindset/experience In-depth LLM user and AI model experience
WHAT YOU'LL GET
Ownership of real work that ships, not a project that gets shelved Direct access to the people running the project — no layers in between Experience across both software and hardware, which is rare in an internship Exposure to enterprise systems most students never see — ERP, device management, and deployment at scale
