About Sonnet Technologies Sonnet Technologies is a leading developer of high-performance connectivity and expansion products for professional users of Mac, Windows, and Linux systems. For 40 years, Sonnet has designed and brought to market innovative Thunderbolt, PCIe, networking, storage, and computer expansion products used in the film, video, audio, broadcast, and other professional industries. Position Summary Sonnet is seeking a Senior Hardware Design Engineer with extensive experience designing complex, high-speed circuit card assemblies. A BSEE and 7+ years of relevant hardware design experience are required. This is a hands-on engineering position offering substantial technical ownership throughout the complete product development cycle—from architecture and component selection through schematic design, simulation, PCB layout guidance, prototype bring-up, validation, troubleshooting, compliance, and production release. The successful candidate will have strong high-speed digital and mixed-signal design experience and exceptional hands-on laboratory troubleshooting skills. Experience with several of the following technologies is highly desirable: PCIe Gen 4/5 Thunderbolt, USB4, or USB 3.2 10Gb Ethernet DisplayPort or
HDMI USB-C
Power Delivery Microcontrollers Low-voltage DC-DC power regulation Electronics thermal management Responsibilities Include Designing complex high-speed digital and mixed-signal hardware. Guiding high-speed, multi-layer, impedance-controlled PCB layout and stack-up design. Leading prototype hardware bring-up, functional verification, system integration, troubleshooting, and failure analysis. Working closely with mechanical, software, firmware, manufacturing, technical support, and product teams throughout product development. Working with outside design and manufacturing partners as needed. Managing product compliance and certification testing with outside laboratories.
Pay:
$150,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
