Senior FPGA Design Engineer Xilinx/Video & Image Processing Sterling Heights, MI $74.60 - $88.60/Hourly We are hiring a Senior FPGA Design Engineer with 10+ years of experience to design and implement FPGA-based electronics supporting video and image processing applications. This role focuses on Xilinx FPGA development using Vivado, SDK, and Vitis, with VHDL, Verilog, and HLS (C/C++) development, design verification, timing closure, simulation, hardware debugging, and embedded software development across bare-metal, RTOS, and Linux environments. The engineer will collaborate with systems, software, and hardware engineering teams to develop FPGA solutions for video processing, control systems, and system interfaces while supporting existing and legacy designs. The position also involves FPGA IP development and integration, test bench development, Linux device drivers, industry-standard interfaces, requirements analysis, revision control, and issue tracking.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement FPGA solutions supporting video processing, image processing, control systems, and system interfaces.
  • Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware engineers to define and develop FPGA designs.
  • Support, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing and legacy FPGA designs.
  • Develop and maintain test benches for FPGA design verification.
  • Analyze and review system and FPGA requirements and decompose requirements into actionable engineering work packages.
  • Develop new FPGA intellectual property (IP) using VHDL, Verilog, and/or High-Level Synthesis (HLS) with C/C++.
  • Integrate existing Xilinx and third-party IP blocks into FPGA designs.
  • Develop system constraints and perform timing analysis and timing closure.
  • Debug FPGA designs through simulation and physical laboratory testing.
  • Develop embedded software for bare-metal, real-time operating system (RTOS), and Linux environments.
  • Develop and support RTOS and Linux device drivers for embedded systems.
  • Collaborate across engineering teams using issue tracking and revision control systems.
Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship required by law or government contract
  • Ability to Obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant FPGA, digital design, or embedded systems engineering experience.
  • Experience designing and developing FPGA-based systems.
  • Experience with Xilinx FPGA development tools, including Vivado, SDK, and Vitis.
  • Experience developing FPGA IP using VHDL, Verilog, and/or HLS with C/C++.
  • Experience integrating Xilinx and third-party IP blocks.
  • Experience developing FPGA test benches and performing design verification.
  • Experience developing system constraints and performing timing closure.
  • Experience debugging FPGA designs through simulation and physical laboratory testing.
  • Experience with industry-standard protocols and interfaces such as PCIe, USB, Ethernet, DDR, I2C, SPI, and CAN.
  • Experience developing software in Linux environments using GCC and Makefiles.
  • Experience developing RTOS and Linux device drivers for embedded systems.
  • Experience with Git or similar revision control systems.
  • Experience with Jira or similar issue tracking systems.
