We design and manufacture cutting-edge magnetic components such as inductors, transformers, and motors. We are constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible and are looking for someone who shares our passion for innovation. In this role, you will focus on designing and developing components and the underlying design tools and test methods to help us bring our products, such as compact inductors, transformers, and electric motors and drives, to market faster and more efficiently. You will work closely with technical, engineering, manufacturing, and commercial personnel to develop customer needed parts while also working on foundational innovation that will inform next-generation component technology. If you are excited by the prospect of working on meaningful projects and being a key player working with senior leadership in the success of a startup, then we want to hear from you! Join us in our mission to drive magnetification forward and become a part of our dynamic and growing team. Responsibilities
- Develop, standardize, and apply advanced modeling and simulation techniques to design and optimize components, including enhancements to underlying physics and methods.
- Establish, standardize, and apply testing procedures to validate components and access necessary information as required to improve fidelity of design tools.
- Analyze design results from models and testing results from prototypes to make recommendations for design modifications.
- Extend design and modeling capabilities to electric machines as needed, including electromagnetic designs and FEA-based trade studies for permanent magnet, axial flux, and other advanced motor topologies, to support company motor and drive product offerings.
- Support prototype fabrication and validation testing across the range of components designed (e.g., motors, inductors, transformers), including electrical, magnetic, dynamometer, thermal, efficiency, and vibration testing as applicable, correlating simulation results with measured performance to refine models.
- Collaborate with university and industry stakeholders to further develop and enhance design tools, build relationships with development partners and potential hires, and lead technology transfer activities to strengthen company IP position.
- Support internal engineers and commercial team members working on customer and external product engagements throughout design and modelling processes to effectively meet needs of customer specified applications
- Work closely with internal engineers, suppliers, and all other stakeholders to effectively build, characterize, and validate components based upon optimized designs
- Continuously improve modeling and design tools used in component and system level design based upon experimental feedback from prototypes, scientific literature, and learnings from collaborative engagements with external partners.
- Manage and execute tasks according to agreed upon deadlines while meeting expectations on quality of work.
- Complete technical reports of completed work for internal and external purposes, including white papers and funded work proposals.
- Represent CorePower Magnetics in professional technical conferences and other venues, in the form of attendance and delivery of approved presentation materials.
- Take ownership and responsibility for safety, supporting a proactive safety culture that results in their safety and the safety of others. Core Approach to Core Values
