Role:
We are looking for an ambitious Computer Engineer to lead the embedded software development and hardware control systems for our innovative food processing appliance. You will be the primary technical authority for programming and running the machinery, responsible for Linux-based systems and hardware integration from concept to prototyping.
What We Are Looking For:
Location:
Must currently reside in Houston, Texas, USA. (Applications from outside the Houston area will not be considered.)
Work Authorization:
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder. (We do not provide visa sponsorship, including H-1B or any other work authorization, and will not consider candidates requiring sponsorship.)
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in Linux programming and embedded hardware control systems. (Candidates without proven professional experience in Linux-based device control will not be considered.)
Education:
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
Technical Skills:
Deep expertise in Linux operating systems, Linux programming/scripting, and hands-on experience managing and driving displays/hardware modules such as Raspberry Pi CM4 (Compute Module 4) to operate machinery.
Hands-on:
Proven experience with low-level peripheral integration, hardware-software interfacing, and testing embedded systems in a lab or workshop environment.
Mindset:
A "get-it-done" attitude—you want to see your code bring physical machinery to life.
Autonomy:
Ability to work autonomously and own your software and architecture design decisions from concept to final product.
Key Responsibilities:
System Architecture:
Lead the development of Linux-based software to control hardware operations, user interfaces, and machinery automation. Raspberry Pi CM4
Integration:
Manage and program Raspberry Pi CM4-based screens and controllers to seamlessly drive and operate the machinery.
Technical Authority:
Serve as the primary technical lead for all embedded software, operating system optimization, and hardware-control logic.
Prototype Testing:
Work closely with the core team to oversee system integration, debugging, and the transition from software code to a fully functioning physical prototype.
Why This Job IS For You:
If you have the soul of an inventor and the drive to bring a completely new, disruptive hardware concept to life through code. If you are a self-starter who thrives when given a blank canvas and the power to make your own architectural and coding decisions. If you are obsessed with creation and want your work to be the foundation of a revolutionary product, not just a minor update to an old one. If you possess a visionary mindset and understand that the most significant engineering breakthroughs come from daring to think differently.
Why This Job Is NOT For You:
If you lack the "inventor's madness" and aren't excited about creating something that has never existed before. If you cannot handle ambiguity and need a detailed manual for every single step of the process. If you are satisfied with existing solutions and aren't constantly looking to break barriers and innovate. If you view engineering as just a way to collect a paycheck rather than a craft to change the world. If you are not comfortable with collaborative team dynamics or if you struggle to provide sustainable, long-term technical solutions to your partners' needs. If you lack the required leadership character to drive a project, take full ownership of the technical direction, and effectively lead other engineers.
What We Offer:
Technical Ownership:
You will be the lead embedded software and hardware control authority for a new, high-potential hardware product.
Performance-Based Structure:
Compensation is milestone-based, structured to reward the successful delivery of project phases.
Portfolio Building:
This is a project that you can showcase as a major milestone in your engineering career.
Note:
This is a milestone-based contract project. The hourly rate listed is for estimation purposes, and the total compensation will be structured as a project-based flat fee based on project milestones and deliverables.
Pay:
$30.00 - $50.00 per hour People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply
Work Location:
In person
