Job Description

Working closely with subsystem research and development leaders in areas such as control, packaging, and test and measurement, you will align roadmaps, manage risks, and deliver critical milestones.
Drive program execution:
Lead program management for pivotal quantum hardware initiatives, from concept development and engineering design through prototyping, validation, operational scaling, and ongoing delivery. Collaborate with system architects, research scientists, and hardware engineers to achieve program goals.
Strategic planning and roadmapping:
Work with program management leadership, engineering teams, and executive stakeholders to develop and maintain a roadmap for hardware platform advancement.
Cross-disciplinary coordination:
Align teams working in quantum device physics, cryoelectronics, materials science, hardware control, manufacturing, supply chain, integration, and cloud hardware operations to deliver reliable, scalable hardware solutions.
Supplier and partner engagement:
Manage relationships with external foundries, research laboratories, equipment vendors, and strategic partners.
Risk management:
Identify, monitor, and mitigate technical, schedule, and operational risks. Apply lessons learned and adapt plans as technologies and program needs evolve.
Agile delivery:
Oversee Agile program processes and ceremonies, provide regular reviews and updates, and remove obstacles to the timely delivery of critical milestones.
Customer focus:
Incorporate feedback from internal and pilot customers, including researchers, manufacturing partners, and Azure Quantum platform teams, to improve hardware and processes.
Executive communication:
Develop concise, data-driven updates on program status, milestones, risks, dependencies, and impact for executive and other stakeholders.
Culture and values:
Promote respect, collaboration, integrity, and inclusivity. Mentor team members and foster a learning-oriented environment within the quantum TPM organization. Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience in engineering, product or technical program management, data analysis, or product development, or equivalent experience. 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Citizenship and citizenship verification: This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under export control regulations, potentially under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations or Export Administration Regulations, the EU Dual Use Regulation, and/or other export control regulations. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide either proof of their country of citizenship or proof of their U.S. permanent residency or other protected status (e.g., under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) for assessment of eligibility to access the export-controlled information. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate's citizenship will be verified with a valid passport. Lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees may verify status using other documents, where applicable. An advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in a relevant field, such as quantum information, physics, materials science, electrical engineering, or hardware systems; or equivalent applied experience in quantum or cryogenic hardware programs. 10+ years of experience managing multi-year, highly complex hardware product portfolios involving deep technology or first-of-a-kind technology, such as board or SoC bring-up, BIOS and driver development, quantum systems, ASICs, FPGAs, advanced chip packaging, cryoelectronics, or high-reliability hardware. Direct experience with quantum device development, quantum error correction, or quantum measurement and control hardware. Hands-on development or testing experience with quantum hardware systems, including cryogenic systems. Experience with semiconductor, electronics, or advanced materials supply chains, contract manufacturers, or research and development foundries. Demonstrated success leading external research, university, government, or consortium partnerships in advanced hardware or scientific domains. Experience transferring technology from research and development to scaled engineering and manufacturing, including developing and auditing hardware quality systems and test protocols. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced product development environment within a matrixed organization. Ability to use AI tools to improve innovation and efficiency, such as performance modeling and analysis, research gathering, and day-to-day task automation. Experience applying AI to engineering and lab workflows, including designing and building agents or copilots that assist with experiment setup, log triage, measurement reports, protocol templates, and knowledge retrieval.
