Job Description Summary GE HealthCare is seeking a Senior FPGA & Digital Design Engineer to join our Digital Controls & Mixed Signal Engineering team. In this role, you will architect and develop advanced FPGA-based systems that enable some of the world's most sophisticated Magnetic Resonance (MR) imaging technologies. This is a hands-on technical leadership position for engineers who thrive on solving complex digital design challenges. You will work across FPGA architecture, RTL development, verification, high-speed interfaces, digital signal processing, and system integration while collaborating with experts in hardware, software, firmware, ASIC, and systems engineering. From multi-gigabit data movement and real-time signal processing to scalable digital platform architectures, you will help define the technologies that power future MR products and improve patient care around the world. Job Description Essential Responsibilities Lead FPGA architecture, design, implementation, and verification for advanced MR platforms. Develop RTL using VHDL and/or Verilog and drive designs through simulation, timing closure, and hardware validation. Design and integrate complex digital systems involving FPGAs, processors, memory, ADCs/DACs, and high-speed serial interfaces. Define verification strategies, simulation environments, and reusable testbench infrastructure. Debug challenging FPGA, hardware, and system-level issues using simulation and laboratory tools. Support architecture, schematic, layout, signal integrity, and hardware design reviews. Develop reusable FPGA IP, design standards, and engineering best practices. Evaluate emerging FPGA, processor, and semiconductor technologies and influence future platform roadmaps. Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple programs. Support products throughout the full lifecycle from concept and architecture through manufacturing and field support. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. 5+ years of FPGA and digital design experience. Strong expertise in VHDL and/or Verilog. Experience with simulation, verification, timing analysis, and timing closure. Experience implementing high-speed digital interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, JESD204, DDR, LVDS, or similar technologies. Strong understanding of clocking, CDC, reset architectures, and digital system design fundamentals. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field. 7+ years of FPGA development experience. Experience with advanced verification methodologies. Experience with high-speed transceivers and multi-gigabit serial protocols. Experience in medical devices, aerospace, defense, telecommunications, or other regulated industries. Experience developing FPGA design frameworks, CI/CD workflows, and verification infrastructure. Desired Characteristics Recognized technical leader in FPGA and digital system design.
