Job Description

What to Expect As a Sr. Tesla Fire Protection Designer, you will be responsible for fire sprinkler design utilizing HydraCAD and BIM coordination of the following systems: Wet and Dry Fire Sprinkler System; Pre-action and Deluge Fire Sprinkler System; Water Mist; Foam; Automatic Standpipes; and Fire Pumps. You will utilize
CAD/REVIT
software to provide support to Self-Perform Construction Team by preparing routine layouts of fire sprinkler systems, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches and diagrams. What You'll Do Review documents and coordinate internally with the design team/construction and possible subcontractors to gather the required information to design sprinkler systems Develop and create Fire Protection Reports for new production lines, materials, suppression, and detection systems coming to the factory Submit packages for review and approval to AHJ for permit, and produce RFP/RFQs documents for project scoping and pricing Work with the Fire Protection Team to prepare designs, hydraulic calculations, stock listing, installation drawings, and perform inspections post-installation Produce 3D construction drawings and 3D models for different types of fire suppression and life safety systems using Revit, HydraCAD, HydraCALC, and Navisworks Support code compliance and life safety design from schematic design through commissioning by helping develop and create code analysis, alternate means & methods, and reports for permit documents, including High-Piled Storage Analysis, Chemical Hazard Analysis, Specifications, and Hazard Analysis Develop process improvements, workflows, and templates to increase design productivity and quality of deliverables What You'll Bring Degree in Fire Protection Engineering from an ABET accredited program, or equivalent experience 5+ years of experience in commercial and industrial design, including experience working with Authorities Having Jurisfiction (AHJ) NICET Level III or higher or Fire Protection Engineer certifications required (e.g. CFPS) Demonstrated ability with AutoCAD, HydraCAD (or similar), REVIT and Navisworks Strong analytical mindset and ability to organize time and tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet strict deadlines Must be self-motivated and thrive in a team environment, with excellent written and verbal communication skills Manage multiple projects while meeting tight design deadlines and responding to RFIs to meet construction deadlines Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Tesla is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
