Job Description

Are you passionate about leveraging technology to make workplaces safer and operations more efficient? As a Systems Specialist, EH&S Systems, you'll play a critical role in advancing innovative technology solutions that support environmental stewardship, employee safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across the organization. Reporting to the Section Manager, EH&S Systems, you will serve as a trusted technology partner, delivering and enhancing enterprise applications that support the Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) organization. You'll collaborate with business leaders, Enterprise Technology Solutions (ETS), vendors, and cross-functional teams to design, configure, integrate, and support scalable, secure, and reliable solutions that drive meaningful business outcomes. In this high-impact role, you'll help shape the future of EH&S technology by translating complex business challenges into innovative solutions, leading system enhancements, evaluating emerging technologies, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities Core Responsibilities Solution Development:
Design, develop, configure, test, implement, and maintain applications, interfaces, data solutions, reports, workflows, and other technology capabilities supporting EH&S business functions.
Business & Technical Analysis:
Work with the Section Manager and business stakeholders to understand requirements, analyze business processes, identify technical options, and translate business needs into detailed technical solutions.
Systems Integration:
Develop and support integrations between EH&S applications, enterprise platforms, data sources, and external systems using approved integration patterns and standards.
Technical Design:
Develop technical designs and recommendations that are reliable, maintainable, reusable, scalable, secure, and consistent with enterprise architecture and technology standards.
Technology Evaluation:
Research and evaluate emerging technologies, platforms, tools, and commercially available solutions. Develop prototypes or proofs of concept when appropriate and provide technical recommendations to the Section Manager.
Data & Analytics:
Support data acquisition, transformation, integration, reporting, and analysis to enable EH&S stakeholders to identify trends, monitor performance, and implement strategies to minimize operational and safety risk.
Project Delivery:
Participate in technology projects from requirements through implementation, including estimation, technical design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and post-production support.
Collaboration:
Work effectively with EH&S business stakeholders, ETS, developers, engineers, analysts, cybersecurity teams, vendors, and other internal and external partners. Develop and maintain EH&S internal SharePoint sites and related collaboration solutions as assigned. Perform other technical assignments and responsibilities as directed by the Section Manager or department leadership. Qualifications Required Education/Experience Bachelor's Degree and 4 years related experience or Master's Degree and 3 years related experience Preferred Education/Experience Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Math, Engineering or business-related discipline and 4 years related experience including designing, developing, implementing technologies in one or more domains, e.g. applications or data Master's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Math, Engineering or business-related discipline and 3 years related experience including designing, developing, implementing technologies in one or more domains, e.g. applications or data Relevant Work Experience Minimum 3 years of experience designing, developing, configuring, integrating, implementing, or supporting enterprise technology solutions, required. Experience in one or more of the following areas: application development, systems integration, data/analytics, cloud technologies, APIs, databases, workflow/process automation, mobile solutions, IoT/sensors, or enterprise application platforms, required. Strong understanding of software development and systems implementation concepts, including requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and production support, required. Experience working with relational databases, SQL, data integration, APIs, or comparable technologies, required. Ability to understand business processes and translate business requirements into technical requirements and solutions, required. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, required. Ability to adapt and work off-hours as required to support deployments, resolve production problems or respond to corporate emergencies, required. Experience with Agile, DevOps, source control, CI/CD, automated testing, or related software delivery practices, required. Experience developing or integrating commercially available enterprise application suites, preferred. Experience working within a regulated, utility, environmental, health and safety, or operational environment, preferred. Must respond to system emergencies. Must travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies.
