Remote Overview:
Our client, a multidisciplinary architecture and engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Project Engineer to join its growing team. This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced, licensed Fire Protection Professional Engineer with a strong background in commercial building projects. This individual will serve as the Engineer of Record across multiple states and oversee fire protection engineering projects from initial design through construction administration. The position will report to the Vice President of Electrical and serve as a key technical resource for clients, project teams, and developing engineers. Candidates whose experience is primarily within industrial facilities will not be considered. Substantial commercial building experience is required.
What you will be doing:
Lead fire protection engineering projects through design, permitting, bidding, and construction administration Serve as the Engineer of Record for projects in multiple states Prepare and oversee construction documents, specifications, calculations, reports, and responses to requests for information Coordinate fire protection designs with architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, and other engineering disciplines Meet with project architects and project managers to review design scope, schedules, budgets, project phasing, site conditions, and design issues Estimate the engineering hours and resources required to complete assigned projects Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and consultants on assigned projects Oversee the production of engineering construction documents and technical specifications Ensure projects comply with applicable fire protection, life safety, and building codes Maintain a high level of quality assurance throughout the design and construction process Perform and coordinate peer reviews of engineering documents Establish and manage project budgets while completing the designated scope within the allotted schedule Anticipate technical and project-related challenges and resolve them proactively Communicate client revisions and coordinate responses to construction-related questions Represent client interests at public hearings and meetings when required Develop and maintain strong client relationships through responsive service and technical guidance Mentor and train engineering designers in the production of accurate, high-quality construction documents Research emerging technologies, products, codes, and industry design practices Perform additional responsibilities as needed What you must have: Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection Engineering Minimum of 10 to 15 years of relevant fire protection engineering experience Active Professional Engineer license in Fire Protection Engineering Ability to obtain and maintain professional engineering registration in multiple states Experience serving as the Engineer of Record Substantial fire protection design experience involving commercial buildings Strong knowledge of fire protection, life safety, and applicable building codes Experience preparing construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, and technical reports Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD Experience with relevant engineering modeling and design tools Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Desired Skills Strong project leadership and personnel-management capabilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to explain technical designs and project requirements clearly to clients Strong critical thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills Excellent organization and time-management abilities Experience selecting fire protection systems and equipment Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and client relationships Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills Ability to mentor, motivate, and develop engineering team members
Salary/Rate Range:
