Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Production Lead is a hands-on execution driven leader within Guitar Center's Media Department, responsible for delivering high quality photo and video productions, in alignment with the brand's products, storytelling and creative vision. The role ensures productions are executed on time, on budget and to industry standards. Reporting directly to the Manager of Production, this role serves as a production owner in translating creative concepts into fully realized productions, as this role bridges vision and execution by overseeing production planning, on-set management, and logistical coordination to ensure a seamless delivery of content. This role is well suited for a confident production leader capable of independently managing routine to mid-scale productions, while supporting global scale brand initiatives, and leading onset operations. The Production Manager brings logistical expertise, experiential production experience, and product knowledge to facilitate the creation of compelling commercial and branded media content.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
  • Manages & supports the execution of media productions across brand, product, editorial campaigns and digital for mid-level initiatives.
  • Leads on-set operations for both photo and video shoots, serving as the logistical authority during production.
  • Collaborate with merchandising, creative, media, marketing and digital teams to understand intent, tone, visual language and goals, translating them into production strategies.
  • Responsible for pre-production planning including schedules, call sheets, shot lists, locations and crew planning for projects.
  • Responsible for budgeting campaigns and initiatives they are leading or managing.
  • Assist manager in talent recruiting, scout location, casting sessions, fittings and rehearsals.
  • Assist with pre-production proposals and presentations for stakeholder review.
  • Secure product, locations, permits, insurance, contracts, legal documents and equipment rentals.
  • Ensures product, auxiliary gear, props, and technical equipment is properly delivered to production sets and on time.
  • Troubleshoot issues in real time to minimize delays or disruptions.
  • Proactively anticipating needs, identifying risks, and resolving issues before they impact production.
  • Organization of asset handoff to key stakeholders or teams such as DAM & Design.
  • Assist in negotiating rates with vendors, crew, and talent.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES
  • Bachelor's Degree (or 4 years of equivalent work experience) is required, preferably in Media, Communications, Journalism, Video, Photography or related field.
  • 2 years of relevant work experience in production, media, design or relevant creative field (in addition to degree or years of previous experience).
  • 2 years of work experience as a production coordinator and or production assistant.
  • Related work experience in the music industry, active producing and or active musician (a plus).
  • Skilled in musical gear knowledge across multiple instruments.
  • Experienced in production logistics and technical operational knowledge with both photo and video operations.
  • Capable with production sets, workflows, call sheets, storyboards, mood boards, prop management, permitting and safety regulations for production sets.
  • Experienced working on budgets, contracts, scouting talent & locations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous productions with aggressive deadlines.
  • Basic knowledge in production gear (photo & video).
  • Intermediate understanding of post-production pipelines.
  • Experienced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Adobe suite and video production software.
  • Directly working with a DAM system and or collaborated with a DAM department (a plus).
  • General understanding of audio recording tools and techniques.
  • Intermediate understanding of design & production software like Figma, Canva, Id, Ai, Studiobinder, Quickbase, Portfolio, DAM. etc.
  • Novice in using Ai tools for production operations.
Pay Rate:
$72,300- $80,000 / annually depending on background and experience.
