Suominen is seeking a Process Engineer to join our Windsor Locks team. In this role, you'll play a key part in optimizing manufacturing processes, solving production challenges, implementing improvements, and supporting operational excellence across the site. You'll work closely with production, maintenance, quality, and leadership teams to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure we continue delivering world-class products safely and effectively. What You'll DoProcess Improvement & Operational Excellence Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Develop and implement process improvements, equipment enhancements, and automation solutions. Support Statistical Process Control (SPC) initiatives and monitor process performance. Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects from concept through implementation. Recommend and justify new equipment, tooling, and process changes to improve manufacturing performance. Technical Support Provide hands-on manufacturing support for process optimization and troubleshooting. Resolve issues related to equipment, raw materials, tooling, and production methods. Review product and process designs to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness. Assist with trials, new product introductions, and process validation activities. Team Collaboration & Leadership Collaborate with operations, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to achieve plant goals. Participate in Suominen Best Practice networks and share knowledge across the organization. Support training and development of production personnel. Provide backup support for the Production Manager and fellow Process Engineers when needed. Safety First Champion a strong safety culture and lead by example. Participate actively on the site Safety Team. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety standards and procedures. What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field. Experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify issues, evaluate solutions, and drive results. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to travel overnight as required. Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Preferred Qualifications Experience in nonwovens, paper, textile, or similar process manufacturing environments. Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC). SAP or other ERP system experience. Continuous improvement experience using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies. Why Join Suominen?
