Industrial Minerals, Specialty Chemicals, Powder Processing, Aggregates, Cement, Fillers, Pigments, Advanced Materials, or Related Industries About the Role We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join our growing team in Savannah, Georgia. This position will play a critical role in developing, optimizing, and scaling manufacturing processes for innovative mineral-based products. The successful candidate will bridge Research & Development and Operations, leading projects from laboratory concept through pilot trials and commercial production. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working hands-on in both plant and laboratory environments, and driving innovation in particulate processing technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong process engineering fundamentals, experience with solids and powder processing operations, and a proven track record of implementing process improvements in a manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Process Development & Scale-Up Lead scale-up of new products and processes from laboratory development through pilot and commercial manufacturing. Design and execute process development trials to improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and production capacity. Support commercialization efforts by ensuring processes meet safety, environmental, quality, regulatory, and cost requirements. Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve throughput, yield, product consistency, energy efficiency, and overall operational performance. Utilize data-driven approaches to troubleshoot process issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions. Establish and monitor key process performance indicators and project success metrics Particulate Processing & Technical Expertise Develop deep expertise in solids processing operations, including: Crushing, Wet and dry grinding, Milling, Classification, Screening, Drying, Blending, and Surface treatment and coating technologies Build and maintain technical knowledge related to process equipment, unit operations, and emerging technologies. Collaborate with equipment manufacturers and technology providers to evaluate and implement new processing solutions. Cross-Functional Leadership Partner closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Commercial, and R D teams to execute strategic projects. Provide technical support for plant operations, troubleshooting, and process improvement initiatives. Contribute to the development of new intellectual property through process innovation and technical problem-solving. Quality, Safety & Compliance Support quality investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action programs. Participate in process safety reviews and ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards. Identify critical-to-quality process parameters and support implementation of monitoring and control strategies. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline. 5-10 years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience leading process optimization, scale-up, or continuous improvement projects. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in both plant and laboratory settings. Excellent communication and project management skills. Preferred Experience within the industrial minerals, specialty chemicals, aggregates, cement, pigments, fillers, or related particulate processing industries. Experience with powder handling and solids processing equipment. Familiarity with statistical analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE), Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies. Experience supporting new product development and commercialization activities. What You'll Bring A hands-on approach to engineering and problem-solving.
