Burns Harbor, IN Cleveland-Cliffs Burns Harbor is seeking a Process Engineer to support environmental compliance and operational performance across our integrated steelmaking facility. This is not a traditional environmental role. The successful candidate will be a strong technical problem solver who can identify issues, conduct root cause analyses, and work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to develop practical solutions. This role offers daily variety and requires someone who thrives in a hands-on manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Investigate environmental and operational issues and develop effective solutions. Lead root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions. Interpret environmental regulations and assess impacts to facility operations. Partner with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to maintain compliance and improve performance. Support air compliance programs, permitting, and environmental reporting. Analyze process data and operating conditions to identify risks and improvement opportunities. Provide technical support during operational upsets and environmental events. Participate in weekend duty rotations and emergency response activities as needed. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, either Environmental Science, Mechanical, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience. 4+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, operations, maintenance, environmental, or other technical industrial roles.Strong Location:

Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications Experience in steel, manufacturing, chemical, power generation, mining, or other heavy industrial environments. Knowledge of Clean Air Act requirements, Title V permitting, and air compliance programs. Understanding of industrial processes, emission sources, and pollution control systems. 8+ years of relevant industrial experience.
