Material Flow & Operations Location:
Fairfax, KS We are partnering with a growing manufacturing and logistics organization seeking an Industrial Engineer to support material flow, facility optimization, and new program launches across its operations. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys being close to the operation, analyzing how materials and people move through a facility, and developing practical solutions that improve productivity, space utilization, and overall efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize manufacturing, warehouse, and material flow layouts Utilize AutoCAD to support facility layouts, storage locations, racking, workstations, and material-handling processes Analyze material movement from receiving through storage, production/sequencing, and outbound operations Develop and maintain PFEPs (Plan for Every Part) for new and existing programs Conduct time studies, labor analysis, and process observations to identify opportunities for improvement Support labor planning, capacity analysis, and productivity initiatives Assist with new customer programs, facility expansions, and operational launches Evaluate storage, racking, packaging, and material-handling requirements Identify opportunities to reduce travel distance, improve workflow, and maximize available space Partner closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives Travel to additional facilities and customer locations as needed
Ideal Background:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field 2+ years of experience within manufacturing, automotive, warehousing, logistics, or a similar high-volume environment Experience with AutoCAD and facility/layout design Understanding of material flow, material handling, and warehouse operations Experience with PFEP, time studies, labor standards, or capacity planning is highly preferred Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles Automotive, JIT/JIS, 3PL, or sequencing experience is a plus Ability to work hands-on within a fast-paced operational environment This is a strong opportunity for an engineer looking to take ownership of projects involving material flow, facility design, operational efficiency, and new program launches within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
