Description Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Operations and working side-by-side with Production Supervisors, this individual will help develop processes to integrate workers, machines, materials, information, and energy to efficiently manufacture specialty vehicles (small school buses).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. Gather data and perform analysis of manufacturing capacity, efficiency, and bottlenecks relative to production targets.
Develop and implement LEAN practices (VSM, Continuous Flow, Waste Elimination, 5S, Standard Work and Cycle Times,TPM, Ergonomics).
Lead shop floor and business process improvement workshops.
Support Production Supervisors with process development/improvement, creation of work instructions, and creation ofassembly aids.
Perform in-depth analysis of manufacturing costs including elements of direct labor, indirect labor, supplies, tools, and utilities.
Develop spreadsheet and database tools to analyze data.
Develop and maintain plant layout in 2-D AutoCAD.
Design control systems to minimize costs and production issues.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
B.S. in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering).
Familiarity with manufacturing and assembly processes.
Working knowledge of 2-D AutoCAD and a 3-D CAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks, or Creo)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence and memos in English.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, blue prints, assembly drawing, schematics and other written or verbal instructions presented in English.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. Education and/or
Experience:
B.S. in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering)
Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles
Familiarity with programming of industrial controls, PLCs, and robotics
Work Environment/Conditions:
