Job Description
Forging Process Engineer Trenton Forging Company - Trenton, MI Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Trenton Forging Company is seeking a Forging Process Engineer to support and improve manufacturing operations within our steel forging environment. This role focuses on developing robust forging processes, reducing scrap and rework, supporting production, and driving continuous improvement across the plant. The ideal candidate is hands-on, comfortable on the production floor, and experienced in solving manufacturing challenges through data analysis and cross-functional collaboration. Responsibilities Identify and develop solutions to forging component challenges for both current production and new customer opportunities through observation, data collection, and collaboration with Production and Engineering Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing performance and reduce scrap and rework Develop new and improved manufacturing processes focused on repeatability, efficiency, safety, and product quality Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including drawings, routings, control plans, and operating instructions Support the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process and ensure changes meet engineering standards Complete engineering documentation and project tasks in alignment with departmental timelines Assist in optimizing shop floor layouts to improve production flow and efficiency Design, specify, and maintain tooling required for part processing, including fixture tooling Provide technical guidance and support to production personnel to ensure processes are followed Collaborate with Sales, Quality, Production, and Engineering during APQP and order review activities Support additional engineering and operational initiatives as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred Minimum 2+ years of manufacturing engineering or process engineering experience Experience with tooling design, fixture design, or die design required Experience in forging, metal forming, or heavy manufacturing preferred Experience with CAD software; forging simulation experience a plus Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Technical Skills ERP/MRP system experience preferred (Plex experience a plus) Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel Understanding of manufacturing processes and process documentation Experience with APQP and process development preferred Work Environment Hands-on role with regular presence on the production floor Fast-paced manufacturing environment Occasional lifting and extended periods of standing or walking Why Join Trenton Forging Company?
