Full Job Description Job Description:
The main function of a Industrial Engineer is to design, develop, test and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis and production coordination. A typical Industrial Engineer is tasked with increasing productivity through the management of people, methods of business organization and technology.
Job Responsibilities:
Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product. Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization. Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities. Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts or products and to promote efficient utilization. Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards. Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost. Estimate production cost and effect of product design changes for management review, action, and control. Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency using drafting tools and computer.
Skills:
Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability. Team player and detail oriented. Basic ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations. Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Basic knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as MS Visual Basic, MS Project, and ABAQUS.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering required. 0-2 years experience required. Key Qualifications Experience in designing, procuring, building, installing, and debugging equipment related to material movement and storage. Proficient in managing Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), including program management, OEM timing, addressing open issues, and providing financial forecasts. Previous experience as a Project Lead, with the ability to coordinate resources, provide leadership updates, report status, and track timelines. Possess practical problem-solving skills, with either formal training or experience applying methodologies such as Red X or 7 Diamond. Knowledge and experience with Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEAs), simulation techniques, and controls plans. Exposure to controls engineering, understanding the principles and concepts related to control systems in manufacturing environments. These qualifications demonstrate the LMS Process Engineer's expertise in equipment design, project management, process optimization, problem-solving, and familiarity with relevant methodologies and tools used in the manufacturing industry. Education BS in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management or Equivalent Experience. Specific Responsibilities of this
Position:
Key responsibilities Provide significant input and participation in the entire Plan for Every Part (PFEP) process. Calculate the storage needs for direct materials, including racking, floor space, and dunnage. Determine the requirements for GSC (Global Supply Chain) indirect labor. Design, develop, and procure all material movement and storage equipment, including ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems) and AGV/AMR (Automated Guided Vehicles/Autonomous Mobile Robots) automation. Develop innovative strategies for material storage and movement, and actively seek opportunities for implementation. Integrate the layout of people, manufacturing equipment, and material flow through the creation of a Material Flow Map. Conduct analysis of material flow and congestion to identify areas for improvement. Participate in Plant Launch Wall Reviews, providing updates on status and countermeasures. Collaborate closely with key stakeholders, including CME Execution and Plant Launch Teams. Address lessons learned from Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities and share knowledge with other manufacturing sites. Assist in defining material flow metrics, standardized work processes, and operations playbooks. These responsibilities highlight the LMS Process Engineer's crucial role in optimizing material storage and movement, ensuring efficient operations, and supporting continuous improvement efforts within the manufacturing facility.
Work Site Description:
The role of the LMS Process Engineer encompasses a wide range of responsibilities related to material storage and movement throughout the manufacturing facility. This includes overseeing the integration of material flow from the receiving dock to the shipping dock. The engineer is tasked with evaluating various aspects of material handling, such as receiving, storage, staging, delivery, repackaging, empty container management, floor space utilization, labor allocation, operating expenses, and the design of an optimal layout for material flow. While the primary focus is on process development and execution, collaboration is essential with other teams within Manufacturing Engineering and Manufacturing Plant Operations. This collaborative approach allows for effective coordination and communication across disciplines to ensure smooth material movement and operational efficiency throughout the manufacturing facility.
