SMT Process Engineer

About the Role We are seeking an SMT Process Engineer to develop, optimize, and support surface mount (SMT) manufacturing processes. This role ensures product quality, efficiency, and safety while providing hands-on support for production and equipment. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and optimize SMT and PCBA manufacturing processes Support new product introduction (NPI) and manage products through full lifecycle Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support for production and equipment Program and support SMT equipment (pick-and-place, SPI/AOI, reflow profiling) Monitor process performance and drive improvements using data analysis Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and training materials Train operators on equipment, processes, and best practices Ensure equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and uptime Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Purchasing on materials and quality Support evaluation and implementation of new equipment and process improvements Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards Qualifications Technical degree (EE, ME, Engineering Technology) or equivalent experience 3+ years of SMT/process engineering experience in manufacturing Strong knowledge of SMT processes and PCB assembly Experience with SMT equipment programming and troubleshooting Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-A-610 preferred) Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAD; Aegis experience a plus Hands-on experience with soldering, prototyping, and PCB materials Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Work Environment Manufacturing floor environment with regular movement between workstations Occasional lifting up to 50lbs and working in varied physical positions Requires attention to detail, visual inspection, and frequent communication EOE/M/F/Vet/Disability Employer.
