$100,000 - 130,000/year We are seeking a Lead Supplier Quality & Development Engineer to take ownership of critical vendor partnerships and drive technical process optimization across our external supply base. In this role, you will lead high-impact initiatives to guarantee that manufacturing partners fulfill stringent design specifications, quality benchmarks, and delivery schedules. You will serve as a primary technical authority, managing vendor readiness, directing PFMEA sessions, and establishing targeted corrective action frameworks to elevate supplier capabilities. Responsibilities Direct key supplier relationships, maintaining strict alignment with engineering requirements and industry compliance. Lead high-level negotiations and performance reviews focused on product reliability, yield improvement, and cost efficiency. Solve complex technical failures by leading root-cause analyses (8D/5-Why) and overseeing systemic corrective action plans. Identify, evaluate, and onboard new manufacturing partners for hard-to-source components. Function as the core technical link between Design Engineering and vendors, translating complex requirements into RFQs. Evaluate vendor production workflows, capacity models, and manufacturing methods to optimize future capacity. Direct large-scale process improvements to curb defect rates and boost vendor yield using Lean and Six Sigma toolkits. Facilitate Process Flow mapping and direct PFMEA execution to isolate operational risks and bolster process controls. Formulate risk mitigation strategies that enhance technical capabilities across the supplier network. Perform comprehensive supplier quality audits evaluating technical compliance, process stability, and output quality. Establish incoming quality control (IQC) inspection protocols and inline monitoring procedures for vendor parts. Drive closed-loop corrective action projects (CAPA) based on audit findings to cultivate continuous vendor improvement. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related technical discipline. 1+ years of dedicated experience in supplier quality development, advanced manufacturing. Advanced command of APQP tools, including DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, and control plans. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects and direct complex vendor technical negotiations. Hands-on proficiency in Statistical Process Control (SPC), data analysis, and Lean/Six Sigma methodology.
