Job Description

GKN is a World-wide manufacturer and supplier of sintered structural parts, sub-assemblies, soft magnetic components, and electric motor solutions. As a global market leader for sinter metal components, we deliver customized high-precision metal shaped solutions and engineering support to enable industrial and automotive product innovations.
Position Overview:
GKN - St. Marys is seeking a talented and motivated Process Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality. The Process Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive continuous process optimization.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes and systems. Identify and implement process improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce waste. Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions. Facilitates product launch activity utilizing the APQP process from new business through start of production, and works directly with Sales, Product Engineers, and the customer. Champions cross functional teams including, by not limited to, Quality Manufacturing, Process, and Product Engineering groups during manufacturing process development. Maintain customer engineering contacts to discuss any changes or issues during process and fulfil any additional requests or requirements set forth by the customer during this process. Provide technical support to manufacturing on continuous improvement activities concerning safety, quality, cost, and delivery. Support product launches and major changes to existing parts - APQP/PPAP. Maintain Engineering Change Request (ECR) for customer and subcontractor print updates. Work with Tool Design on dimensional change and kick-off of tool build. Development of control plan, process flow, and PFMEA. Establish process gauging, error proofing, and part handling (automation). Implement cost reductions and productivity improvements. Play active role in all LEAN and Continuous Improvement activities. Assure compliance to Customer requirements and
TS 16949
Quality Standards. Maintain compliance with company policies, safety rules, 5S housekeeping standards, and lean principles. Strong knowledge of sintering processes and/or metallography would be an advantage for candidates.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field. At least 4 years of experience in process engineering within a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of process optimization techniques, such as Lean Six Sigma. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Experience with regulatory compliance (e.g., IATF, ISO) is a plus.
