SUMMARY The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer will oversee quality assurance processes, implement quality control measures, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This role involves the development, implementation, and maintenance of protocols and procedures to ensure products are manufactured and assembled to the highest standards. Additionally, the Senior Quality Engineer will lead process improvement activities at supplier facilities to enhance product quality for Lycoming Engines. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with Six Sigma methodologies, AS9100 standards, and FAA regulatory requirements. A deep understanding of advanced quality tools such as Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Value Stream Mapping is essential. In this role, the Senior Quality Engineer will play a critical part in maintaining and elevating the quality standards of our products, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and driving continuous improvement across the supply chain.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with AS9100 standards and FAA regulatory requirements. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to address non-conformances and improve product quality. Perform internal audits to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, such as AS9100. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and supply chain, to ensure quality standards are met throughout the product lifecycle. Develop and maintain quality documentation, including inspection plans, control plans, and quality reports. Utilize advanced quality tools such as Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Value Stream Mapping to optimize processes and improve efficiency. Provide training and support to team members on quality standards, procedures, and best practices. Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement. Support new product development and introduction processes to ensure quality requirements are met from concept to production. Lead and participate in improvement projects and initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the organization. Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related Aeronautical technical field required. Minimum of five years of experience in Manufacturing/Assembly Operations, Quality, Engineering, and/or Procurement. Six Sigma methodologies and/or PPAP (Production Parts Approval Process ) preferred. In-depth knowledge of AS9100 standards and FAA regulatory requirements. Ability and willingness to travel to suppliers as needed (50-75%). Proficiency in advanced quality tools such as Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Value Stream Mapping. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. ASQ (American Society for Quality) Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Reliability Engineer, and/or Certified Quality Auditor certification preferred. Proficiency in quality management software and tools. Proficiency with reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) . Familiarity with manufacturing statistical methods, including process capability, Gage R&R (Repeatability and Reproducibility), probability, and statistical inference.
