Job Title:
Production Engineer Job Description We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Production Engineer to join our team. This role requires a strong presence on the production floor and a hands-on approach to resolving operational challenges. The ideal candidate will be passionate about lean manufacturing, process optimization, and cross-functional teamwork. Responsibilities Provide technical support and act as the main liaison to the production team, internal service team, customers, and operators, helping them resolve complex issues during installations, startup, or operation. Maintain a consistent presence in the production facility to support daily operations. Collaborate with production teams to resolve workflow issues, identify inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions. Interpret engineering drawings and schematics to assist with troubleshooting and problem resolution. Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve production efficiency. Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including the adoption of new tools and best practices. Identify design and build issues and generate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs); manage document revisions. Participate in recurring cross-functional meetings to support deadlines and product development. Maintain documentation such as work instructions and process improvement reports. Monitor key manufacturing metrics (e.g., production time, downtime) to identify areas for improvement. Adhere to engineering processes and documentation standards. Essential Skills 3+ years of experience working within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology. 3+ years of experience troubleshooting equipment. Basic understanding of engineering ECRs. Strong communication and verbal skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies. OSHA 30 Certification. Work Environment The company is a 3rd generation family-owned business. They manufacture the Versa-Drill brand of water well, geothermal, exploration, shallow oil/gas drilling rigs, and equipment. The company was founded in 1962 and is located in Downtown Indianapolis. The position offers a 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM ET 1st shift opportunity, Monday through Friday, with 40-hour workweeks. The engineering team consists of six members. The company emphasizes designing reliable equipment capable of working in tough conditions with the latest technologies, offering a fast-paced design and manufacturing process with exciting challenges. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.47 - $48.08/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
