We are hiring engineers to join our Niles, IL headquarters to support product development and manufacturing operations. The Production Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, modification, and continuous improvement of products while ensuring they are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet quality standards. This role develops and maintains assembly instructions, engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and other manufacturing documentation to support production. Working closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams, the Product Engineer implements engineering changes, resolves production issues, improves assembly processes, and supports new product introductions (NPI). The Product Engineer serves as a key link between product design and manufacturing, ensuring products are accurately documented and can be produced efficiently, safely, and consistently. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering environment.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and the ability to interpret 3D models, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Experience in creating and maintaining assembly work instructions and manufacturing documentation.
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and engineering drawing standards.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly methods, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement principles.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Production teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, easy-to-follow work instructions.
• Electronics knowledge is a plus

• Develop clear, accurate, and standardized assembly instructions for new and existing products.
• Create and maintain visual work instructions using CAD models, drawings, photographs, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure assembly documentation reflects current product designs.
• Review engineering change orders (ECOs) and update assembly instructions accordingly.
• Validate assembly processes on the production floor and incorporate feedback to improve documentation.
• Define assembly sequences, required tools, jigs/fixtures, and critical quality checkpoints.
• Support new product introductions (NPI) by developing production documentation before product launch.
• Train production personnel on new or revised assembly instructions when required.
• Maintain document revision control and ensure the latest work instructions are available to production.
• Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing issues related to assembly procedures and documentation.
• Design new fixture components that are not a standard offering, including working with outside vendors to qualify and get pricing
• Work with sales to meet customer needs requiring design and fabrication of new custom hardware
• Create drawings to specify component finishes for outside vendors, including maintaining the custom part drawing library database
• Lead manufacturing process improvement projects to improve plant efficiency and reduce operating costs to meet company goals
• Assist in implementing lean manufacturing principles
• Assist facilities in troubleshooting equipment breakdowns as needed
• Work with facilities to set up a preventive maintenance (PM) program for all equipment and building systems
• Take the lead on specifying, purchasing, and installing new manufacturing equipment when needed
• Work on manufacturing design projects such as equipment enclosures and safety guarding
• Assist in maintaining a safety program within the plant
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management Physical Demands
• Prolonged periods of sitting while using a computer to create and revise engineering documentation.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on the manufacturing floor to observe assembly processes and validate work instructions.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds of parts, tools, or equipment.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs as needed while evaluating production processes.
• Manual dexterity to operate computers, cameras, measuring tools, and other office or manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to distinguish colors, details, and small components when reviewing products, drawings, and assembly documentation.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes, when working in production areas.
• Ability to travel between office, laboratory, warehouse, and manufacturing areas throughout the workday.
• Ability to climb ladders and crawl in tight spaces on occasion
• Potential for continually working near moving mechanical parts
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
