How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As an Engineer I, you will provide engineering support for various projects and supporting multiple business units. The incumbent is responsible for identifying and investigating product improvement ideas and performing necessary research, engineering, and design to bring finished projects to the marketplace. In this position, the incumbent will use established procedures and work under immediate supervision to perform assigned tasks. This position works on assignments under general supervision and direction, follows established procedures and has work reviewed by more senior level engineers. This role encourages innovation and continuously improves efficiency of technical support, monitors advances of technology and competition, and supports global and acquisition-related technical issues in areas of expertise. What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be: Technical Engineering Design and Support Use engineering principles and product specifications to support technical questions from internal and external customers.
Identifying opportunities for product improvements and process improvements with drawings, engineering specifications, bill of materials, quality plans and plant procedures
Identifying opportunities for cost savings on products and manufacturing labor savings
Perform finite element analysis on new and existing products.
Perform structural analysis on options and products.
Perform hydraulic calculations associated with various products.
Use communicative skills to support products from a technical position to internal and external customers.
Collaborate closely with plant management to understand production goals, providing technical guidance and statistical data to assist with decision making. Design and Modelling Use 3D modelling software to create product models.
Products fabrications drawings, BOMs, and assembly manuals from 3D models.
Work closely with manufacturing team and other internal customers to identify modelling practices beneficial to the success of the organization.
Work in ERP system to create new and manage existing model data.
