View the SENS Product Catalog Summary The Senior PCBA Supplier Quality Engineer III is SENS's lead technical quality partner for our printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) and electronics supply base. This role owns supplier quality from qualification and new product introduction through sustaining production, leading containment, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and long-term supplier development. Working closely with Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, Operations, and Quality, this engineer defines supplier controls, evaluates manufacturing and change risk, and ensures purchased products consistently meet SENS requirements. A successful candidate combines deep PCBA process knowledge, disciplined problem solving, strong analytics, and the ability to influence suppliers and internal stakeholders without direct authority. Responsibilities Own the supplier quality strategy for PCBA and electronics suppliers, including selection, qualification, onboarding, performance management, development, escalation, and sourcing recommendations. Plan and conduct on-site and remote supplier audits; evaluate quality systems, process controls, traceability, workmanship, change control, capacity, and operational risk. Serve as the technical quality authority for surface-mount and through-hole assembly, soldering, component handling, cleaning and coating, inspection, test, rework, repair, and common PCBA defect mechanisms. Establish quality requirements and supplier-readiness plans for new product introduction and sustaining production; review process flows, PFMEAs, control plans, work instructions, validation data, and first-article evidence. Lead containment and resolution of supplier nonconformances and escapes. Drive material review board and return-to-vendor recommendations, supplier corrective action requests, 8D/A3 root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive action, and effectiveness verification. Define and continually optimize receiving inspection using product criticality, supplier capability, historical performance, and risk; expand reduced inspection or dock-to-stock controls when supported by objective evidence. Create supplier scorecards and business-review inputs using defect rates, yield, escapes, audit results, responsiveness, corrective-action closure, delivery performance, and cost of poor quality. Partner with Engineering to evaluate supplier impacts of design, bill-of-material, material, process, tooling, equipment, test, and manufacturing-site changes; ensure changes are approved and validated before implementation. Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing and Operations on supplier business reviews, sourcing decisions, recovery plans, capacity and readiness, and supply-continuity risk. Develop scalable supplier-quality procedures, templates, specifications, and workflows that support the SENS quality management system; coach suppliers and internal teams, and communicate risk-based recommendations clearly to leadership. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in electrical, manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, quality engineering, or a related technical discipline. 5+ years of progressive experience in PCBA manufacturing or PCBA supplier quality engineering. Strong working knowledge of surface-mount and through-hole processes, component handling and storage, soldering, cleaning/coating, inspection and test, rework, and PCBA workmanship defects. Demonstrated experience with supplier auditing, corrective action, 8D/A3, 5 Whys, Fishbone analysis, FMEA, control plans, statistical process control, process capability, Pareto analysis, and structured problem solving. Working knowledge of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and
ISO 9001
2015. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material, engineering changes, and quality requirements and translate them into practical supplier controls. Strong data extraction, analysis, reporting, and documentation skills; advanced proficiency with Excel and experience with Power BI or an equivalent visualization platform. Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation, negotiation, and influence skills across suppliers, technical teams, and leadership. Ability to manage competing priorities, make sound risk-based decisions, and independently drive actions to effective closure in a high-growth environment. Preferred Qualifications IPC certification or familiarity with IPC-7711/7721 and
IPC/WHMA-A-620.
