Job Description

We are looking for a Packaging & Production Development Engineer who can lead the development, testing, commercialization, and continuous improvement of flexible packaging products, materials, and manufacturing processes. Provide technical support to manufacturing, customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.

DOE Key Responsibilities Lead development and commercialization of new packaging products, materials, and processes. Design packaging solutions that meet customer, manufacturing, quality, performance, and cost requirements. Plan, coordinate, execute, and document manufacturing trials, customer qualifications, and validation activities. Develop and maintain product specifications, manufacturing standards, engineering documents, and technical work instructions. Troubleshoot packaging and process issues involving printing, lamination, slitting, and converting operations. Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for product and process issues. Improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste, optimize material usage, and lower costs. Evaluate and qualify new materials, equipment, suppliers, and technologies. Serve as the technical contact for packaging development projects with customers and suppliers. Work with Quality to ensure products meet customer requirements, regulatory standards, and food packaging best practices. Support Operations, Sales, Customer Service, and Procurement with technical expertise throughout the product lifecycle. Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies and recommend improvements. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related engineering field . 5+ years of engineering experience in flexible packaging, converting, printing, laminating, or related manufacturing. Strong knowledge of flexible packaging materials, flexographic printing, lamination, slitting, converting processes, and package performance . Experience leading product development, manufacturing trials, and cross-functional technical projects . Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering documentation systems. Preferred Qualifications Experience with food packaging, barrier films, adhesives, coatings, and flexible packaging structures . Knowledge of GMP, SQF, Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and quality management systems . Customer-facing technical support experience. Supplier development experience. CAD experience. Success Measures Successful commercialization of new packaging products and solutions. Timely completion of product development, trials, and validation activities. Improved manufacturing performance, product quality, and material utilization. Reduced packaging-related quality issues and manufacturing downtime. Accurate specifications and technical documentation. Strong collaboration with customers, suppliers, and internal teams. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs . Ability to safely perform essential job functions and meet productivity standards. Ability to communicate clearly by telephone. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per hour
