Posted 06/2026 Job Description Job Summary STS Technical Services is hiring Senior Industrial Engineers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. STS Technical Services is seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Engineer to support a rapidly growing manufacturing operation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role is built for engineers who know how to improve throughput, eliminate bottlenecks, and drive measurable operational performance inside complex manufacturing environments. If you are hands-on, data-driven, and comfortable working directly on the production floor to improve processes across fabrication, welding, paint, assembly, and shipping operations, this opportunity aligns with your skill set. Position Summary The Senior Industrial Engineer will lead manufacturing improvement initiatives focused on productivity, efficiency, quality, safety, and long-term operational scalability. This position supports an engineered-to-order manufacturing environment and requires strong collaboration across production, supply chain, quality, engineering, and leadership teams. Job Responsibilities Lead plant-wide continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, safety, and cost reduction Analyze and optimize workflows across fabrication, welding, paint, assembly, and shipping operations Develop labor standards, staffing plans, capacity models, and production metrics Identify production bottlenecks and implement sustainable process improvements to increase throughput and improve on-time delivery Design and improve plant layouts, workstation ergonomics, material flow systems, and factory organization Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions related to downtime, scrap, rework, and operational inefficiencies Create and maintain SOPs, standard work documentation, and operational best practices Evaluate automation opportunities, capital equipment investments, and ROI-driven manufacturing improvements Partner with Production, Quality, Safety, Supply Chain, and Engineering leadership teams to execute operational priorities Mentor junior engineers and support the development of a continuous improvement culture throughout the facility Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field 5 to 15 years of Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering experience in a production environment Strong background in metal fabrication, welding, heavy manufacturing, job shop, or engineered-to-order manufacturing environments preferred Proven success implementing Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, value stream mapping, and continuous improvement initiatives Experience with labor studies, line balancing, plant layout development, capacity planning, and KPI management Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn operational data into measurable improvements Comfortable leading projects and influencing cross-functional teams without direct authority ERP and MRP system experience required CAD experience preferred Six Sigma certification or equivalent continuous improvement training is a plus What Success Looks Like Improved plant throughput and labor efficiency Reduced bottlenecks, waste, scrap, and rework Better production flow and stronger on-time delivery performance Standardized manufacturing processes that support future operational growth Increased operational discipline and process consistency across departments About STS Technical Services STS Technical Services is a Top 100 Staffing Firm that partners with some of the largest names in aerospace, manufacturing, defense, and industrial operations.
