Job Description

Mechanical Technician Location:
San Jose, CA Job Summary We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Technician to support automotive prototype and lab operations. This role will assist with assembly activities, part kitting and movement, wire harness builds, instrumentation, documentation, inventory management, and power electronics teardown. The ideal candidate has basic electrical knowledge, experience using hand and power tools, and a strong hands-on approach to working safely and efficiently in a prototype lab environment. Responsibilities Support assembly processes including kitting, part movement, and documentation. Perform standardized builds for high-voltage distribution systems and low-voltage wire harnesses. Assist with instrumentation activities, including test/connection (TC) creation and inventory checks. Organize and maintain the prototype lab, equipment, tools, and inventory. Follow 5S and EHS practices to maintain a safe and organized workspace. Perform teardown and scrap activities for end-of-life power electronics. Maintain accurate parts, equipment, and inventory records. Work closely with engineers and technicians to support automotive prototype development. Follow established build, safety, and laboratory procedures. Required Qualifications Basic understanding of electrical circuits, electrical components, and BOMs . Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and build equipment . Comfortable working in a prototype, laboratory, manufacturing, or automotive environment. Strong attention to safety, organization, and quality. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Flexible and responsive to changing priorities. Good verbal and written communication skills. Hands-on mentality with strong problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Automotive or EV prototype experience. Experience with wire harness assembly or electrical distribution systems. Experience working with high-voltage automotive components. Familiarity with 5S, EHS, lab organization, or inventory management . Experience supporting engineering prototype builds. What You'll Do You will work as part of a hands-on engineering and prototype team developing automotive products. This position provides an opportunity to work directly with prototype hardware, electrical systems, tools, equipment, and laboratory operations in a fast-paced environment.
Location:
San Jose, CA Pay:
$27.52 - $29.55 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
