Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be assisting with the creation, installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and components used in our UAS technology. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience interpreting technical documentation, and thrives in a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of projects. Assemble mechanical components, subassemblies, and complete UAS platforms in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and assembly procedures Perform precise mechanical assembly using hand and power tools (e.g., torque wrenches, drills, drivers, cutters, crimpers) Interpret technical drawings, exploded views, and bills of materials (BOMs) to identify parts and determine correct assembly sequence Execute basic mechanical rework operations such as deburring, drilling, tapping, filing, and minor modifications as required Align, fit, and adjust components to ensure proper tolerances, clearances, and structural integrity Support integration activities, including installation of wiring harnesses, sensors, batteries, and payloads , in coordination with electrical teams Conduct visual inspections and basic functional checks to ensure assemblies meet quality and safety standards Document completed work, track assembly issues, and communicate nonconformities or design concerns to engineering teams Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with EHS and company standards Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance assembly processes, tooling, and documentation
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent Proven experience in a mechanical assembly, technician, or similar hands-on role within manufacturing, aerospace, robotics, or related industries Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity, with the ability to work on small components and tight tolerances Proficiency with hand and power tools , as well as basic measurement instruments (calipers, gauges, etc.) Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly instructions, and basic schematics Understanding of mechanical fastening methods (bolts, screws, inserts, threadlockers) and torque practices Ability to follow standard operating procedures and execute tasks with minimal supervision after training High attention to detail, quality-focused mindset, and strong ownership of work Effective communication skills and ability to work within a cross-functional team Work authorization in the
US Preferred Skills:
Experience with drones, UAVs, RC aircraft, or similar robotic systems Familiarity with basic electronics assembly (connectors, wiring, crimping, light soldering) Experience working in prototype production environments , including hands-on use of 3D printing technologies and post-processing techniques such as drilling, tapping, sanding, and fitting, with the ability to adapt to frequent design iterations Familiarity with safety standards and regulations in mechanical systems.
