Job Description Summary Provides hands-on technician support for the development, assembly, fabrication, troubleshooting, and testing of MR (magnetic resonance) mechanical assemblies, such as patient tables, fixtures, and related components. Supports safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a shared engineering laboratory while partnering closely with engineers and other technician(s). Job Description Roles and Responsibilities Assemble, modify, inspect, and troubleshoot MR mechanical assemblies, prototypes, fixtures, and test hardware for new-product development and engineering investigations. Set up, operate, monitor, and document automated and manual testing, including load, impact, component-level, and compliance-related testing using appropriate instrumentation and data-acquisition equipment. Fabricate, modify, and rework parts using approved hand tools and mechanical-lab equipment, such as CNC equipment, mills, waterjet, bender, drill press, grinder, tapping tools, and threaded-insert tools. Build, route, modify, and troubleshoot cable harnesses, connectors, wiring, and basic electromechanical or PCB-related issues. Inspect prototype and 3D-printed parts for fit, form, function, and manufacturability; clearly communicate issues and recommended actions. Maintain build records, test reports, issue trackers, equipment status, tooling, materials, calibration, preventive maintenance, safety, and 5S for the shared laboratory. Train and assist engineers, technicians, interns, and new team members in safe equipment use and lab processes. Comply with GE HealthCare quality, engineering, Environment Health and Safety, and applicable regulatory requirements. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED with 10+ years of engineering or technician related experience. 6+ years of technician experience in engineering laboratories, product development, fabrication, testing, manufacturing, or equipment support. Experience assembling, modifying, troubleshooting, testing, or repairing complex mechanical or electromechanical systems. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, bills of material, and work instructions and safely use measurement tools, hand tools, power tools, and mechanical-shop equipment. Ability to document technical work, manage multiple priorities, communicate issues clearly, and work independently and collaboratively in a shared laboratory. Desired Characteristics Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field. Experience with medical-device development, MR equipment, IEC 60601 related testing, automated test equipment, cable fabrication, PCB troubleshooting, CAD, PLCs, machining, or data-acquisition systems. Strong problem-solving, communication, teamwork, mentoring, and laboratory-organization skills. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
