Estimating & Drafting Location:
Dora, AL We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer - Estimating & Drafting to join a growing manufacturing team. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with strong machine shop experience who excels at estimating machining and fabrication projects, creating manufacturing drawings, and improving production processes. Key Responsibilities Prepare accurate cost estimates for machining, fabrication, gear manufacturing, and repair projects. Review customer drawings and specifications to determine manufacturing requirements. Create and revise manufacturing drawings using CAD software. Develop routings, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing processes. Estimate machining times, tooling requirements, and material usage. Collaborate with production teams to optimize manufacturing methods and reduce costs. Support technical inquiries from customers and sales teams. Create work instructions and inspection documentation. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and cost reduction. Qualifications 5+ years of manufacturing engineering or machine shop experience. Strong knowledge of CNC machining, manual machining, fabrication, and manufacturing processes. Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings. Experience estimating labor, materials, tooling, and outside services. Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar). Strong understanding of GD&T and machining tolerances. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications Experience with gear manufacturing or gearbox repair. Knowledge of ERP systems and manufacturing software. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience. Familiarity with welding, heat treating, and industrial power transmission equipment.
