Job Description:
Position Summary The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing, documenting, and improving manufacturing processes for the assembly of complex electronic equipment. A significant part of the role will involve creating and maintaining detailed work instructions, assembly procedures, and other manufacturing documentation used by production personnel. This position will also support new product introduction (NPI) activities, working closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and customers to transition new products from engineering into production. The ideal candidate is an engineer who enjoys working both at a computer and on the manufacturing floor, can understand complex assemblies and engineering drawings, and has a practical approach to solving manufacturing problems. Key Responsibilities Manufacturing Process & Documentation Develop clear, detailed, and easy-to-follow work instructions for mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical assemblies. Create assembly procedures, process documentation, visual aids, tooling requirements, and other manufacturing documentation. Review engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and other technical documentation to develop effective assembly processes. Work directly with production personnel to understand assembly challenges and improve processes. Establish standardized and repeatable manufacturing methods for new and existing products. Identify opportunities to improve assembly efficiency, quality, safety, ergonomics, and consistency. New Product Introduction Support the transition of new products from engineering design into production. Work with Engineering to identify manufacturing requirements and potential production issues early in the development process. Develop manufacturing processes and documentation for new products and engineering changes. Support prototype and first-build assemblies and help resolve issues identified during initial production. Production & Continuous Improvement Provide day-to-day engineering support to manufacturing floor. Troubleshoot assembly, process, and equipment issues and implement corrective actions. Analyze production problems and identify root causes and practical solutions. Support continuous improvement initiatives involving quality, cost, throughput, and labor efficiency. Evaluate opportunities for process automation, error-proofing, and other manufacturing improvements. Collect and analyze manufacturing data to identify opportunities for improvement. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other departments. Collaborate with Quality on nonconformances, corrective actions, and process improvements. Work with Supply Chain and Purchasing when component availability, supplier quality, or material changes affect manufacturing. Communicate manufacturing requirements and process changes clearly to production personnel. Participate in customer-related technical discussions when appropriate. Qualifications - Required Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. 2-5 years of relevant engineering experience. Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving assembly of electronic, electromechanical, or complex mechanical equipment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and technical documentation. Strong technical writing and documentation skills. Ability to create clear, concise work instructions for manufacturing personnel. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Comfortable working directly with production personnel on the manufacturing floor. Qualifications - Preferred Experience developing visual work instructions or using digital manufacturing documentation systems. Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) or transitioning products from engineering to production. Experience with electronic or electromechanical assembly. Experience with troubleshooting PCBA & electronic components. Experience serving in the semiconductor field, semiconductor equipment, vacuum, robotics, or other high-technology industries. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, or other continuous improvement methodologies. Experience with SAP or similar ERP/MRP systems, including engineering change processes. Experience with CAD software and/or viewing 3D models. What We're Looking For The successful candidate will be a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving real manufacturing problems. You don't need to know everything about semiconductor equipment when you start, but you should be comfortable learning complex products and turning engineering requirements into practical assembly processes.
