Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Optical Design Engineer to join our cutting-edge team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing advanced optical systems, contributing to the design, simulation, and testing of optical components and assemblies. Your expertise will drive the creation of high-performance optical solutions that meet rigorous specifications and industry standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on pioneering projects that push the boundaries of optical technology, with a focus on delivering exceptional quality and reliability. You will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, utilizing your technical prowess to solve complex engineering challenges and shape the future of optical systems. Responsibilities Design and develop optical components, lenses, and assemblies using industry-standard CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks. Perform optical simulations and modeling utilizing tools like MATLAB, Zemax, or Code V to optimize system performance. Conduct detailed root cause analysis for optical system issues, troubleshooting problems related to aberrations, alignment, or material properties. Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate optical systems with electronic components, including PCB design and electrical schematic development. Support manufacturing processes by creating detailed fabrication drawings, overseeing assembly procedures, and ensuring compliance with industry standards such as NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code). Engage in system development verification through rigorous testing using oscilloscopes, signal processing techniques, and automation tools. Utilize simulation tools like Simulink and programming languages such as Python or C++ for system modeling and control algorithm development. Contribute to project scheduling efforts by planning milestones, tracking progress, and coordinating cross-functional activities to meet project deadlines. Skills Extensive experience with optical design software including Zemax, Code V, or LightTools. Strong background in electrical systems design, schematic creation, and PCB layout using AutoCAD or similar CAD platforms. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, MATLAB, and SystemVerilog for system development verification and automation tasks. Knowledge of FPGA programming and embedded systems development for real-time control applications. Familiarity with manufacturing processes including soldering, circuit assembly, and quality assurance testing. Expertise in signal processing techniques and troubleshooting complex electrical or optical issues using oscilloscopes and ohmmeters. Understanding of industrial automation principles involving programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and control systems integration. Ability to interpret electrical building codes (NEC) and ensure compliance during system design and implementation. Experience practicing in an industrial or manufacturing engineering environment with a focus on electronics design and system integration. Skilled in using simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink for modeling control systems; experienced in CAD software such as Revit or MicroStation for system layout planning. Knowledge of quantum engineering principles is a plus for innovative optical research projects involving advanced photonics technologies. Join us if you're passionate about pushing technological boundaries through innovative optical engineering! We value energetic problem-solvers ready to contribute their expertise to impactful projects that shape the future of optical systems worldwide.
