The Manufacturing Engineer/Process Design Engineer's primary responsibility is to design and/or evaluate customer submitted artwork to ensure it is compliant with the machinery prerequisites and meets standards and performance requirements. Create, review, and approves designs, drawings, specifications, etc. of existing or new technology or applications. Provides expert judgment and analysis for the design, development, and implementation of technical products and systems. Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. The Manufacturing/Process Design Engineer handles complex aspects of design process and has a hand in the manufacturing process. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. The Manufacturing Engineer/Process Design Engineer is also responsible for the promotion of awareness of all applicable regulatory requirements. Primary Responsibilities Manage assigned engineering and customer projects from initial request through production. Review customer drawings and specifications for manufacturability. Create and modify SolidWorks models and AutoCAD drawings. Develop manufacturing processes, work instructions, tooling, and fixtures. Work directly with Production and machine operators to troubleshoot manufacturing issues. Support Engineering, Quality, Sales, and Production with technical questions. Communicate with customers and suppliers as needed. Assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions. Support new product introductions, samples, and process validation. Maintain accurate project and engineering documentation. Participate in continuous improvement activities. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or another closely related engineering discipline. SolidWorks. AutoCAD. Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings. Basic GD&T knowledge. Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Basic understanding of engineering materials and manufacturing processes. Strong communication skills. Willingness to work directly with Production and learn different manufacturing processes. Preferred Qualifications Manufacturing or project engineering experience. Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement. Six Sigma. Epicor or other ERP/MRP systems. Root Cause Analysis. FMEA, PPAP, IQ/OQ/PQ, and 5S. Experience with waterjet, laser cutting, CNC routing, die cutting, adhesive converting, foam converting, laminating, or similar manufacturing processes.
