Strong designs account for how parts fit, which materials perform, and what manufacturing needs to get the job done right. Our client is looking for a Design Engineer who brings mechanical aptitude, CAD experience, and practical problem-solving skills to a manufacturing environment. If you enjoy translating ideas into precise drawings—and working through the details that make a design buildable—this role deserves a closer look. What you'll work on You'll develop and refine drawings for mechanical and electrical components and assemblies, taking projects from initial notes and sketches through documentation released to manufacturing.
Your work will include:
Developing production-ready designs: Create detailed CAD drawings, assembly layouts, and parts lists from engineering concepts, sketches, and technical direction.
Solving the practical details:
Evaluate dimensions, component fit, materials, and finishes with fabrication and assembly requirements in mind.
Keeping designs accurate:
Review drawings for completeness, dimensional accuracy, material requirements, and quantities.
Managing design revisions:
Update drawings and supporting documentation through the Engineering Change Order process.
Supporting manufacturing releases:
Perform engineering calculations, prepare specifications, and assemble the information needed to move designs into production.
Contributing to complex projects:
Help engineers resolve drafting, mechanical, and fabrication challenges.
Evaluating cost:
Prepare product cost estimates to support design and manufacturing decisions. What you'll bring At least four years of related experience in a technical manufacturing environment . Experience with CAD software and electromechanical drafting . Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation. Knowledge of MIL-STD drawing requirements , manufacturing engineering, and quality control principles. An understanding of material selection, estimating methods, and project coordination. Careful judgment, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage shifting production priorities. Ability to read and understand technical documentation written in English.
Preferred education:
College coursework or specialized training in drafting principles and techniques. A mechanical engineering degree is a plus.
