SUMMARY OF POSITION
This role covers a range of engineering responsibilities, including design of new machinery, modifications to existing equipment, safety improvements, and Engineering support in Aluminum processing.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Conceptualize and design heavy industrial equipment used in Aluminum processing plant . Must have a thorough understanding of machine shop practices, and the ability to communicate with vendors. If a part can't be made in-house, Engineering will create drawings and technical specifications to facilitate the outside machine shop creation of the part. Working knowledge of machine controls. Experience with automated machinery. Ability to communicate design concepts in a clear manner and engage operators and management in design reviews in a highly collaborative environment. Must be willing to modify designs based on feedback gained during review meetings. Some after-hours work (compensated time) will be required for maintenance & equipment installations. Experience using 3D modeling software for machine design; AutoDesk Inventor preferred. Must be able BS Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years' experience is preferred but will also consider lengthy practical design experience in lieu of a degree. 5+ years of heavy industrial machinery design experience required; must include hydraulic system design and troubleshooting ability. Travel may be up to 10% to visit vendors, customers, shopping for used equipment, and trade shows.
