Orlando, FL Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, optimization, validation, and sustainment of manufacturing processes used in the production of quartz crystal resonators and frequency control devices. This entry-level role supports high-reliability electronic component manufacturing through process monitoring, data analysis, troubleshooting, equipment support, and continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer will work closely with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to help ensure consistent product performance and compliance with aerospace, defense, telecommunications, medical, and industrial standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in supporting and improving production processes including: Quartz blank processing Lapping and polishing Chemical cleaning and etching Photolithography or masking operations Vacuum deposition and metallization Precision frequency adjustment/tuning Seam sealing or hermetic packaging Support production documentation updates using Mtron's internal software systems. Assist with yield tracking and analysis by part number to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement. Collect and analyze manufacturing data using statistical and engineering methods. Help create and organize customer-required data sheets and reports. Learn and support crystal testing and electrical parameter evaluations for various crystal products. Assist with setup files used for crystal testing equipment. support qualification and screening processes such as vibration, thermal shock, phase noise, and related testing activities. Assist with troubleshooting and minor equipment upkeep as needed. Participate in engineering experiments and maintain accurate records of results and observations. Support the Crystal Design Engineering Team with assigned projects and process activities. Work collaboratively with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering personnel in a hands-on manufacturing environment. .
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
General computer proficiency and familiarity with standard software applications. Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel for data collection and analysis. Exposure to engineering or statistical software such as SolidWorks or Minitab is preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to learn specialized crystal manufacturing processes and equipment. Must be able to work with ITAR data without a license.
Education, Experience and Training:
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field required. 0-3 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, or related technical environmental preferred. Equivalent experience gained through internships, co-ops, academic research, or laboratory work will also be considered. Exposure to manufacturing, electronics, semiconductor, aerospace, defense, or other technical production environments preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 50lbs. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as required. Ability to safely climb, descend, and work from ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms at verifying heights. Manual dexterity to operate hand tools, machine controls, and measuring instruments. Work is performed in a combination of office and manufacturing environments. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, fumes, and related by-products.
