  • $100,000 About the Company Our client is a rapidly growing, privately owned real estate development and investment organisation that has redefined the traditional development model through a fully integrated approach to delivering high-quality residential communities.
Unlike many developers who rely heavily on third-party consultants and operators, this organisation manages nearly every stage of the project lifecycle internally, including land acquisition, development, engineering, surveying, construction, and long-term asset ownership. This streamlined model enables faster decision-making, greater quality control, and a unique ability to deliver projects efficiently at scale. Over the past few years, the company has experienced exceptional organic growth, expanding its employee base significantly while continuing to enter new markets across the United States. With an active development pipeline spanning multiple states and dozens of projects in various stages of planning and construction, the organisation offers an exciting environment for ambitious engineering professionals looking to accelerate their careers. The business specialises in the development of large-scale residential communities, with projects typically consisting of 200-400 unit multifamily developments. Their repeatable development model provides engineers with exposure to a high volume of projects, allowing for rapid technical growth and project ownership at an early stage in their career. Career Progression & Ownership This isn't a role where you'll spend years performing the same technical tasks. The company invests heavily in developing early-career engineers and has built a reputation for promoting from within. As the organisation continues to expand into new geographic markets, there are clear pathways into senior engineering, project management, development management, and leadership positions. Successful individuals will have the opportunity to take ownership of increasingly complex projects while working alongside experienced engineering and development professionals who are committed to mentoring and coaching the next generation of leaders. If you're looking for a career rather than just a job, this organisation provides a unique platform to build both technical expertise and commercial understanding of the development process. Role Overview Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a Design Engineer to join their expanding Site Development team. This is an ideal opportunity for an early-career Civil Engineer who is looking to gain hands-on experience across all phases of land development projects. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering leaders, surveyors, project managers, and development professionals to support the design and delivery of residential communities throughout the United States. The role offers exposure to grading, drainage, utility design, permitting, site planning, and construction support, providing a well-rounded foundation for engineers working toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure. Key Responsibilities Assist with the preparation of site development and civil engineering design packages. Support grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility, and roadway design efforts. Produce engineering plans, specifications, and technical documentation using industry-standard design software. Coordinate with internal development, surveying, construction, and project management teams. Support entitlement and permitting processes through collaboration with local jurisdictions and regulatory agencies. Prepare calculations, technical reports, and engineering analyses. Participate in project meetings and contribute to design reviews. Assist with construction administration activities and respond to field-related engineering questions. Ensure designs meet applicable local, state, and federal requirements. Support multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced development environment. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices. Education & Qualifications Required Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline. Engineer-In-Training (EIT/EI) certification. 1-2 years of professional civil engineering experience. Strong desire to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) licensure. Knowledge of site development and civil engineering principles. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Eagerness to learn and thrive within a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Ability to manage competing priorities and meet project deadlines. Preferred Internship or co-op experience in land development, civil consulting, transportation, or municipal engineering. Exposure to grading, stormwater, utility, or site design projects. Familiarity with permitting and regulatory processes. Understanding of residential or commercial development projects.
