Job Description
Industrial Automation & OT Project Engineer Location:
Greater Atlanta Area (Roswell, GA) The Opportunity Imerys is a world leader in mineral-based specialty solutions. We are seeking a hands-on Engineer to lead the "Smart Factory" transformation across our US sites. This isn't a traditional IT role; you are the essential liaison between corporate Information Technology and the physical plant floor. You will spend your time where the work happens—implementing automation, SCADA, and Industry 4.0 solutions that directly impact our manufacturing efficiency.Key Responsibilities:
Operations Liaison:
Act as the primary interface between IT and plant operations, translating complex manufacturing needs into technical automation requirements.Project Leadership:
Lead end-to-end industrial projects, taking full responsibility for technical specifications, budgets, deadlines, and on-site commissioning.Strategic Roadmapping:
Partner with plant leadership to build multi-year technology roadmaps aligned with long-term industrial goals.Solution Deployment:
Roll out Industry 4.0 solutions, including standard data collection (OPC UA) and manufacturing application portfolios.Technical Support:
Provide Level 2 and 3 management for newly deployed solutions before handing them off to the standard support teams.Technical Skills Required:
Industrial Networking:
Deep understanding of Layer 1 and Layer 2 networks, including Profibus, Profinet, Modbus, Fiber Optics, and Cat6.Automation Systems:
Extensive experience with PLCs, HMI, SCADA, DCS, and MES/Historian systems.Data & Analytics:
Proficiency in industrial data collection (OPC & OPC UA) and analyzing manufacturing data such as OEE.Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all projects strictly adhere to industrial safety, electrical, and environmental standards.Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Process, Automation, or Chemical Engineering is required.Experience:
Minimum 5+ years of experience managing projects specifically within a heavy industrial or manufacturing floor environment.Engineer-to-IT Mindset:
You must have a strong engineering foundation with the ability to master IT/Project Management methodologies.Travel & Mobility:
Ability to travel 20-25% (approx. one week per month) to various plant sites. A valid driver's license is required to reach remote plant locations.Schedule:
This is a Site-Heavy Hybrid role. During onboarding, you will be on-site at the plant for up to three weeks per month to master Imerys-specific industrial processes. Why Imerys?Global Impact:
