Manufacturing Engineer - Fabrication - John Deere (Dubuque, IA) This is a high-impact, long-term 1+ year contract opportunity paying up to $50/hr , including 2 weeks of PTO . Operating 100% onsite on 1st shift (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM) in Dubuque, IA , you will plan, coordinate, and execute manufacturing engineering work supporting machining, sheet metal, and tooling design processes to hit safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
Position Details & Compensation Pay Rate:
Up to $50/hr (W2) .
Location:
100% Onsite at John Deere Dubuque Works ( Dubuque, IA ).
Duration:
1+ Years (Providing strong contract stability).
Shift & Hours:
1st Shift (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, Monday - Friday). Overtime hours required as requested based on project needs.
Diagnose operational bottlenecks, execute root-cause analyses, and implement engineering change requests to improve quality, cost, and machine throughput.
Feasibility Testing & Validation:
Develop engineering solutions, coordinate feasibility testing, and inspect equipment/tooling installations to ensure compliance with engineering standards and safety codes.
Supplier & External Partner Coordination:
Collaborate with external suppliers, tooling vendors, and subcontractors to manage project deliverables, equipment specs, and contracted engineering work.
Cross-Functional Alignment:
Provide technical support and hands-on guidance to production operators, trade technicians, project managers, and quality teams.
Required Qualifications & Skills Education:
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, OR equivalent hands-on manufacturing engineering work experience/training.
Manufacturing Background:
Demonstrated manufacturing engineering experience involving machining, sheet metal fabrication, tooling, and equipment design .
Technical & Analytical Execution:
Strong ability to interpret complex technical drawings, apply engineering specifications, and execute change management protocols.
Project & Safety Management:
Proven ability to manage engineering projects within established schedules while strictly adhering to safe work systems and risk-management practices.
Communication:
Clear verbal and written communication skills to present technical solutions, write engineering reports, and collaborate across functional teams. What Makes You Stand Out Hands-on experience designing or upgrading sheet metal, machining, or tooling fixtures. Track record of coordinating with tooling suppliers or external automation vendors. Working knowledge of project management, cost modeling, and Lean/continuous improvement methodologies.
