Job Description
CONFIDENTIAL MANUFACTURING SEARCH A
well-established manufacturer of high-performance building components is seeking a Design Engineer to support product design, development, testing, and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on product engineering role for someone who enjoys taking an idea from concept and CAD through prototype, testing, production, and long-term product improvement. The engineer will work closely with production, quality, sales, and other technical partners to create products that balance performance, durability, cost, customer requirements, and ease of manufacturing. Experience with construction products or engineered building components would be valuable; however, strong product design engineers from other manufacturing industries will also be considered.WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Design and improve manufactured products, components, and assembly processes
- Create and revise 2D and 3D drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and engineering documentation
- Partner with production teams to improve manufacturability, repeatability, quality, and throughput
- Support prototypes, product testing, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective action
- Evaluate product performance, materials, tolerances, hardware, fabrication methods, and compliance requirements
- Lead or contribute to cost reduction, value engineering, process improvement, and product standardization
- Manage multiple priorities and communicate design intent and engineering changes across technical and nontechnical teams
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field preferred
- Product design or mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or comparable CAD software
- Experience creating production-ready drawings and managing BOMs and engineering changes
- Strong practical problem-solving skills and comfort working directly with production
- Experience with construction products, engineered building components, extrusions, fabricated assemblies, or similar manufactured products is highly valued
- Knowledge of product testing, material selection, tolerancing, and design for manufacturability is a plus
- Clear communication, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to move several projects forward at once
