President About the Role Terco Inc. is seeking a hands-on Design Engineer to design, develop, and test machinery used in aerosol filling and packaging lines. This role combines mechanical design, automation, prototyping, testing, and field support. The Design Engineer will take equipment from concept through CAD design and validation, then support successful implementation for customers. The ideal candidate will work closely with production, quality, and field service teams to ensure equipment is safe, efficient, reliable, and suited for handling pressurized liquids and propellants. Key Responsibilities Design & Development Create detailed blueprints and 3D models using CAD software for new and existing equipment. Design and modify components and machines used in aerosol manufacturing. Develop and refine products based on performance data, customer feedback, and testing results. Build and support prototypes and proof-of-concept models to validate new designs. Automation & Controls Define electrical component requirements for automated and VFD-controlled production lines. Collaborate with programmers to develop PLC-based control systems that coordinate line operations. Configure and support sensors, HMIs, and touchscreen interfaces for machine operators. Supervise installation and in-house testing of electrical panels, HMIs, and PLC programs before customer release. Testing & Quality Conduct equipment testing and safety validation, including selected component testing. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and software-related issues. Safety & Compliance Ensure designs comply with applicable safety standards for flammable, pressurized, and hazardous goods. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, design reports, user manuals, and safety guides for internal teams and customers. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Proven experience in machine design, ideally within packaging, filling, or process equipment industries. Proficiency with CAD software, including SolidWorks and AutoCAD. General knowledge of PLC programming platforms such as Siemens or Allen-Bradley, as well as industrial automation and control systems. Understanding of pressure vessel design principles and material compatibility with propellants or flammable liquids is a strong plus. Familiarity with safety standards relevant to pressurized and hazardous product handling, such as ATEX, OSHA, or regional equivalents. Familiarity with metalworking, machining technology, and machine tool technology. Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical issues. Willingness to travel for on-site customer installations, training, and support as needed. Excellent written communication skills for producing technical documentation and manuals. Preferred Skills Experience with aerosol or liquid filling machinery. Understanding of pneumatic systems and valves. Benefits Health insurance, with 90% of the premium paid by the company.
