Summary :
Sterling Engineering is partnering with a growing manufacturing organization in Bolingbrook, IL to hire a Manufacturing Engineer with strong fixture design and layout experience. This is a contract opportunity focused on supporting production through the design and implementation of fixtures, equipment, and process improvements. This role will play a key part in driving efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities :
Design and develop new fixtures using CREO to support manufacturing processes Create 2D layouts using AutoCAD for production floor and equipment planning Lead and support manufacturing engineering projects from concept through implementation Develop and improve manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost Support new product launches including fixture design, cell layout, and process validation Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions Apply lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement initiatives Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams Assist with documentation, work instructions, and training as needed
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related Engineering field preferred 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment Strong 3D CAD experience (CREO required) Experience with 2D CAD (AutoCAD preferred) for layouts Proven experience designing fixtures involving pneumatics, hydraulics, and electric motors Experience implementing lean manufacturing principles Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Preferred Skills Experience with process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.) Background in equipment design or automation Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) #INC1
